Former Geelong and Port Adelaide mid-forward Quinton Narkle has officially joined the Fremantle Dockers as the club's first signing in the 2025 pre-season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).

The 26-year-old was confirmed as a Dockers recruit on Monday, filling Fremantle's final list spot for the upcoming AFL season.

Narkle brings versatility and experience to the Dockers' lineup, having played 57 AFL games across stints with the Cats and Power.

After spending five years at Kardinia Park (2017โ€“2022), where he played 41 matches, Narkle joined the Power in the 2023 mid-season draft. During his time at the Alberton club, he featured in 16 games, including 13 in 2024, and kicked eight goals.

Dockers list manager David Walls highlighted Narkle's adaptability as a key factor in the decision to sign him.

"His flexibility, that's one thing we're looking atโ€”players who can fill multiple roles," Walls told The West Australian.

Originally from Perth Football Club, Narkle was drafted by Geelong with pick 60 in the 2016 AFL Draft. He made an impact with his ability to contribute both in the midfield and as a forward but was delisted by the Cats at the end of 2022.

His move to Port Adelaide provided a second chance, and he showed flashes of brilliance in 2024, averaging 20 disposals per game in the SANFL and playing an important role in Port's finals campaign.

Narkle's addition strengthens Fremantle's midfield and forward depth as the Dockers look to build on their progress under head coach Justin Longmuir. He joins an attacking group that includes star recruit Shai Bolton, along with Sam Switkowski and Bailey Banfield.

The SSP signing comes after Narkle opted against entering the AFL National Draft in November, allowing Fremantle to secure his services without competition.

The SSP runs from February 3โ€“28, but Fremantle wasted no time locking in Narkle as they finalised their 2025 roster.

For Narkle, the move marks a return to Western Australia, providing an opportunity to play in front of a home crowd and make a fresh start with the Dockers.
