Fremantle captain Alex Pearce has been ruled out of the upcoming Indigenous All Stars clash after rolling his ankle in the club's intraclub match.

Pearce had been selected to represent the Indigenous All Stars and face his side on Saturday at Optus Stadium.

No timeline has been set for his return, with the Dockers to assess Pearce's availability ahead of the next intraclub game on February 23 and the club's AAMI Community Series hitout against Melbourne on March 2.

The 29-year-old will watch the marquee game from the sidelines alongside teammate Hayden Young, who was officially ruled out of the contest last week.

Young suffered a low-grade hamstring strain but the severity of the injury still puts him in the frame for the pre-season fixture against Melbourne, with the defender-turned-midfielder still in the mix for Round 1.

Dockers recruit Shai Bolton has also been named in the All-Stars squad but is in a race against to clock to feature.

Bolton was sent for scans following a calf complaint, with results revealing a minor strain, forcing him to lighter duties in the lead-up to the practice games.

Star ruckman Sean Darcy will also be absent from Saturday's clash.

Darcy had surgery to rectify a historical ankle injury, a procedure that will involve removing a screw that was inserted in July 2023.

The 26-year-old has struggled to get his body right over the past two seasons, dealing with persistent knee and foot issues, limiting his output to 27 games.

Fremantle veteran Michael Walters will get the opportunity to captain against his own side.

Walters will become the second player to receive the honour, following in the footsteps of Adelaide great Andrew McLeod, who did so in 2009.

The Dockers forward will be supported by experienced All-Stars teammates Charlie Cameron (Brisbane), Bradley Hill (St Kilda) and Jarman Impey (Hawthorn) in the leadership group.

As previously announced, North Melbourne assistant coach Xavier Clarke will coach the team, with assistants Chance Bateman, Jarrod Lienert, Roger Hayden and Jason Williams.

It's the first time the Indigenous All-Stars have been in action since 2015, when West Coast featured.
