Fremantle Dockers veterans Nat Fyfe and Michael Walters will face delayed starts to their pre-season as they deal with minor knee issues.

Fyfe is set to undergo surgery on Thursday to correct the knee problem which was revealed in a scan following a training session over the weekend.

The results revealed no significant cartilage or meniscus damage in the two-time Brownlow medallist's knee, but after surgical review, it was agreed that some loose bodies should be removed via arthroscope to help stabilise the area.

"These bodies can continue to cause issues and surgical removal can provide the most predictable outcome to avoid ongoing symptoms," said EGM of Football Joe Brierty.

"Nat's recovery is dependent on how quickly the knee settles but if all goes well, he will resume strength work and cross-training within a fortnight."

Walters is also recovering from a similar surgery that he underwent during the Christmas break.

The small forward had minor issues regarding his right knee, but following an arthroscopic surgery and subsequent recovery, he is expected to resume the football program in the next fortnight.

"Michael also had an arthroscope completed over the break following some ongoing symptoms in his knee," Brierty said.

"Pleasingly he has recovered well and the plan is to resume in the football program over the next couple of weeks."

Both Fyfe and Walters enter 2025 in the final year of their contracts andย will be eyeing the 250-game milestone this year.
