Geelong coach Chris Scott has all but confirmed that Bailey Smith and Tom Stewart will lineup against Brisbane on Saturday at the Gabba.

After a blistering start to his life at the Cats in Round 1, Smith pulled up with a calf injury that forced him out of the senior side last week.

As for Stewart, the defensive star landed awkwardly on his knee against St Kilda, with fears it could be a serious injury.

Scans did reveal no discernible damage, putting the No.44 in the frame to feature.

"Your specific question is easier, they will definitely be on the plane," Scott said.

"We wouldn't do it unless we thought there was a really good chance that they were going to play.

"I think you saw enough of Bailey today to know that he is a lock, unless something happens. 'Stewy' is very likely I would say, but didn't do as much work as Bailey today.

"We haven't finalised our thinking just yet, we will do that this afternoon and then have the 24 hours in Brisbane to work out exactly what we do."

It comes as veterans Rhys Stanley and Mitch Duncan continue to bang down the door after being held back in the VFL for the opening fortnight of the season.

Duncan could be in line to replace Stewart or Smith, while Stanley could help combat Brisbane ruckman Oscar McInerney and free up Sam De Koning.

"They are good examples of guys that are fit, in good health," Scott said.

We are going to use them more sparingly than they would like, but when they are in a position to really impact.

"That could be this week with both of them."

Smith's inclusion could also come at the expense of impressive youngster Ted Clohesy, who Scott noted for his influence as the Cats made a comeback against the Saints.

"Ted will be on the plane as well; we are really excited by the impact he had," Scott said.

"It actually wouldn't be complete to mention Dangerfield, Cameron and Holmes late in the game without referencing Ted as well. He was as influential as any of them, we thought, which is a great sign.

"He had a great pre-season, and he has been on the edge of the team for longer than some people might have expected.

"If the conditions are a little bit slippery, that will be even more in his favour, he is suited to those conditions."

As it stands, Brisbane's weather conditions are expected to receive large amounts of rainfall, with 15 to 70mm tipped to bucket down.
