Our Rookie Rankings are still welcoming fresh faces with less than a month left in the home and away season, with a Cats rookie breaking into our top eight for the first time in 2024.
Round 21's changes have seen a mature-aged Geelong recruit enter our rankings while a Lions forward jumps two spots following a strong Sunday outing.
Another Cat headlines the chasing pack with three rounds remaining as he and a Suns midfielder stand a chance to snatch a spot before the season concludes.
Selection Criteria: For our Rookie Rankings, we are ONLY selecting players who have made their debut this season.
Other players who may still be eligible for a Rising Star nomination but have already made their debut before the 2024 season will not be considered. I.e. Rising Star eligible players such as George Wardlaw, Angus Sheldrick and Sam Darcy are ineligible, having already played an AFL match before Round 1, 2024.
Honourable Mentions:
Archie Roberts (Essendon)
Will Graham (Gold Coast)
Seth Campbell (Richmond)
Darcy Jones (GWS)
3. Colby McKercher (-)
Again had plenty of the ball as the Roos looked to the young Tasmanian as one of their key users in defence.
McKercher had 31 disposals against the Tigers, with 20 of those won as possessions as the Roos rookie offered some run and clean ball use, recording almost 500 metres gained and an efficiency rate of 87%.
With three rounds remaining in the season, and another winnable contest this weekend against West Coast, McKercher has the time to rise further in our Rookie Rankings before the year is over.
