Geelong have unveiled 10 new jumper numbers for 2025, with former Carlton forward Jack Martin's assignment to the No.19 the last to be announced.

Martin joins star recruit Bailey Smith at the Cats, whilst eight draftees will also take their place at Kardinia Park.

Smith's No.3 will follow a long line of club legends, namely Jimmy Bartel, Fred Wooller and Mark Bairstow.

Smith was one of the biggest names to switch clubs in the recent trade period, crossing from the Western Bulldogs.

It was understood that the 23-year-old was seeking more midfield time, as he was forced to play out of position under Luke Beveridge at the Bulldogs.

Earmarked as a permanent on-baller by new teammates Max Holmes and Patrick Dangerfield, Smith is set to get his wish, and will do it wearing the number 3 on his back.

Bartel is the most recognisable, playing 305 games for Geelong, including three premierships (2007, 2009 and 2011), a Brownlow Medal (2007), two All-Australians (2007, 2008) and a Norm Smith medal (2011).

Captaining Geelong to their sixth V/AFL premiership in 1963, Wooller's career spanned over nine years.

Wooller won a Carji Greeves Medal in 1960 while also leading the Cats goal-kicking on three occasions (1957, 1959, 1960).ย โ€ฏ

As it currently stands, Wooller is the oldest living V/AFL captain and awarded the inaugural Ron Barassi Medal to the winning captain in the 2024 AFL Grand Final.ย โ€ฏย

Other players to wear the number three guernsey for Geelong include Ken Newland, who played 198 games for the Cats, and Mark Bairstow, a three-time All-Australian (1987, 1991, 1992) and Geelong captain.

The number was made vacant by the recent departure of Brandan Parfitt, who was a premiership player in 2022.

Smith will be the 15th V/AFL player in the Cats history to wear the No.3.

Martin will carve out his own piece of history, following in the footsteps of George Todd (232 games) and Neville Bruns (223 games).

Geelong's first selection in the 2024 AFL Draft was Jay Polkinghorne, who will don the vacant No.2, left by Irishman Zach Tuohy.

Young ruckman Jacob Molier will wear the number 20, previously worn by Steve Johnson and Edward โ€˜Carji' Greeves.

Slotting into the No.23 is Lennox Hofmann, taking over from Gary Rohan, while Cillian Burke will trial the No.41.
