Geelong premiership great Cameron Ling will be elevated to Club Legend at Geelong's Hall of Fame event in June this year.
Geelong's 2011 premiership captain played 245 games across 12 seasons and is a three-time premiership player, holding a part in the club's 2007, 2009 and 2011 flags.
The midfielder was known for his gutsy and courageous efforts and was one of the best taggers in the league during his time. He would always put his body in and be the teammate everyone could rely on.
Ling was drafted in 1999 as Pick 38 in the AFL National Draft, and debuted in 2000, playing his last game in the 2011 Grand Final before retiring a few weeks later. In 2004 he won the Carji Greeves Medal as Geelong's best and fairest.
The midfielder helped establish what was one of the best periods in Geelong's history, winning three premierships within five years. Following his retirement he was awarded the AFL Players' Association Madden Medal, an award given to a retiring player to acknowledge their dedication and exceptional efforts on and off the field in their career.
Geelong's first to four-year player academy is named Cameron Ling Academy in honour of his contribution and outstanding achievements for the club.
Ling will be officially elevated to Legend status at the Club's annual Hall of Fame event in June this year, where he will become the 28th Geelong great to be given the honour.
