GWS small forward Bobby Hill is set to make his long-awaited return to football this weekend after being named in the GWS VFL side.

Hill has been battling testicular cancer and underwent surgery at the start of June, having not played in the orange and charcoal since Round 11. The 22-year-old has been medically cleared for a return to football after gradually spending more time on the training track at Sydney Olympic Park.

The return could be a bitter-sweet moment for Giants fans as Hill's 41-game, 34-goal tenure at the Giants could be over with much speculation that the small forward will leave the club at season's end.

This follows a failed trade last year to Essendon, as GWS are facing a big off-season with reports of a large player exodus looming.

The 22-year-old has been linked to Victoria club Collingwood, as he wants to move to Victoria to be closer to his family.

According to News Corp, Collingwood could be preparing to pry Hill to Olympic Park, with the Western Australian native also anticipated to request a trade to Victoria for a second time.

Hill will be lining up for Giants' VFL side against the Footscray Bulldogs on
Saturday at Blacktown International Sportspark in the final game of the season.
