GWS defender Sam Taylor is reportedly set to receive massive contract offers from rival clubs, including those from his home state.

Originally hailing from Western Australia, Taylor, who is signed until the end of 2025, is quickly becoming one of the competition's best defenders.

The 24-year-old is set to hit free agency next year - also known as pre-agent - and will become a highly sought-after player if he chooses to explore his options.

According toย The Age, GWS and Taylor's manager, Trevor Clisby from StrategyOne, have recently begun preliminary contract talks, given the likely pursuit from rivals.

โ€œI still feel like it's ages away, (we will) wait and see, and I love it here at this club,โ€ Taylor said on his free agency call, per The Age.

โ€œThe Giants are a great group, I feel like we have a really bright future โ€“ there are so many special players here, and I feel like we can push for the next four or five years.

โ€œI just want to play for a club that goes out there and wins games. I love winning, and (the) Giants are in a spot where we can do that and there's no better feeling than playing finals and winning games. That's what I want to do โ€“ I want to be at a successful club and probably none better than the Giants at the moment.

โ€œIt'll be a bit interesting (contract speculation) because I've usually signed a year or two in advance, so I don't mind what people say ... it's my decision.โ€

Taylor has quickly become a formidable force in the Giant's backline.
With an elite ability to both shut down his opponent and attack through his brilliant intercept skills, Taylor has been a driving force in the GIANTS' backline for the past few seasons.
The GWS academy product has already received All-Australian honours for his efforts in 2022 as well as a Kevin Sheedy Medal (club champion) and is destined for more.
