Giants are at tipping point: Whateley

SEN Chief Sports Caller Gerald Wheatley has questioned the maturity of the GWS Giants, and has said it could be the 'tipping point' to start a flow on effect for the most-fancied side in the competition.

The Giants were taken to the cleaners by the Cats last Friday night, and with the likes of Josh Kelly, Brett Deledio, Jeremy Cameron and Toby Greene all being out of the side, Whateley believes the injury room could be a hurdle too high for the Giants.

“The Giants are at tipping point,” he said on SEN’s Whateley.

“It’s a crisis of personnel for the Giants. They did not recruit Lachie Keeffe to play him. They did not recruit Dylan Buckley to play him. They did not expect to be playing Nick Shipley for the time being. They are out of blokes."

The Giants have a list envied by the majority of the competition, filled with numerous number one picks and stars located in every section of the ground, and were tipped to better their 2016 and 2017 preliminary performances this season.

“You (David King) said at the start of the year not much has to go wrong for the Giants. Well, they’ve had a whole heap go wrong," Whateley added.

“They’ve already held it together well, but what we saw on Friday night is, if they don’t get the reinforcements back soon, it’ll be a period of free fall.”

The Giants face a tough ask this week, hosting in-form West Coast.
