GWS have confirmed the contract extension of utility Toby Bedford, who has signed on with the Giants through to the end of 2029.

Bedford's first contract with the Giants was set to expire at the cessation of this season, having inked a three-year deal with the club after seeking a move to New South Wales from Melbourne at the end of 2022.

The forward-turned-tagger has quickly become a key ingredient in Adam Kingsley's cause, showing an ability to damage the opposition on the ball and as a shutdown player.

The 24-year-old's strong opening three seasons in orange have earned him a new deal, with Bedford signing a four-year extension with the Giants.

โ€œIt's fantastic to have Toby recommit to the club for another three years,โ€ GWS football boss Jason McCartney said in a club statement.

โ€œWe identified Toby as a really promising young player when we brought him to the club two years ago and he's quickly repaid that faith with some really strong performances.

โ€œOver the past two years he's been able to consistently produce in his role, first as a small forward, and then last year as a really good defensive midfielder who exemplifies the way we want to play.

โ€œWe are really proud of the culture we've built at the GIANTS and Toby's recommitment to the club is further proof that not only is the club a place that our players love coming to every day, but it's a place that our players, coaches and staff see as a club with a really successful future.โ€

Bedford has played 44 games for GWS, adding to his 18 matches with the Demons across the 2020 and 2022 seasons.

His re-signing with the AFL's youngest club adds to a strong retention spree for the Giants, who secured Finna Callaghan (2029) and Connor Idun (2032) earlier this year.

Bedford and the Giants have a bye this weekend before a Round 3 bout against Hawthorn that could see GWS extend their undefeated start to the season to three games.
