GWS has plenty of work to do before Saturday's qualifying final teams are announced, with a decision on Toby Bedford and Jake Riccardi yet to be made.

Bedford - who is poised to run with Errol Gulden or Chad Warner if deemed fit to play - missed the Round 24 loss to the Western Bulldogs with a calf issue, with coach Adam Kingsley unsure if he'd be available for the first week of the finals.

However, Kingsley admitted his confidence has grown over the past fortnight that the former Demon has done everything possible to make himself available for selection.

"He (Bedford) trained today and got through," Kingsley said.

"He was in virtually all the drills we did. Looked fine. So he'll get assessed after training, and then we'll make an assessment on the risks and then make a call."

Kingsley acknowledged that if Bedford doesn't get up for the clash at the SCG, the magnets on the board might cause a reshuffle, given the weapons the Swans have.

"Based on training, I am (confident), but again, we've got to assess the risks attached to his injury," the Giants coach said.

"Yeh, it's been tricky, if he doesn't play, it's deciding who plays that role, if anyone. I don't think we have anyone who plays like Toby. That's a challenge. The other challenge is who we tag."

Key forwardย Riccardi also got through training unscathed following a lengthy stint on the sidelines following finger surgery.

Depth-tall Lachlan Keeffe has been in good form for the Giants, playing second foil to Kieren Briggs in the ruck as well as assisting Jesse Hogan and Aaron Cadman up forward.

"Jake got through, so that'll be a selection. Which way we go there, I'm not too sure whether we bring Riccardi in," Kingsley said.

"I like what Keeffe has been doing for us, particularly as a second ruck and (Aaron Cadman) has been competing really well in front of the ball."

Lachie Ash, Brent Daniels and Isaac Cumming will also return to the side.

The Giants also won't rely on history as a strong indicator, given its form line against Sydney in 2024.

Both times, the Swans claimed the four points and bragging rights over their cross-town rivals, while its finals record against GWS has been well-documented in favour of the AFL's newest team.

"They're clearly the best team in the competition. They finished on top of the ladder miles in front percentage-wise, which is a telltale sign they're the best team in the League," Kingsley said.

"So it's a tough game for us, we're fully aware of that.

"We're going to have a crack like we do in every game, but we know it's going to be a tough ask to beat them, particularly in front of their home crowd, so we don't really draw on history."

Saturday's final teams will be announced Thursday at 6:20 pm (AEST).
