GWS have added another name to their list of recent departures, delisting 20-year-old midfielder Cooper Hamilton.
The club have all but bid farewell to Nick Haynes, Isaac Cumming and Brayden Preuss since their September exit last weekend, with the 2021 Rookie Draft pick the latest to be cut.
Taken with pick 13 from the Bendigo Pioneers, Hamilton emerged as one the elite runners on the Giants' squad, breaking the club's 2km, time-trial record.
He was first thrown into the action in Round seven of 2022, where he had 12 disposals and five tackles in a 59-point win over Adelaide.
He would play in two other matches that season, saving his best for last with 19 touches in a loss to Carlton before falling out of favour.
Hamilton took his game tally to eight with for more features to begin 2023, his best performance coming in Round 2 with 19 touches and a goal against West Coast.
Failing to make the senior side in 2024, however, the club have opted not to extend his expired contract, GM Jason McCartney sharing the unfortunate news to the public.
“It's always a tough time of the year when we need to say farewell to good people, but unfortunately we didn't have a list spot for Cooper moving forward,” McCartney said.
“Cooper has been a great addition to our football program and must also be commended for his involvement within our industry-leading media team.
“We thank Cooper for his services to the club and wish him all the best for whatever is next.”
