Greater Western Sydney are still likely to re-draft Shane Mumford despite a video emerging of him snorting white powder, according to The Age's Jake Niall.

It was revealed last month the Giants were interested in re-signing the former ruckman for the 2019 season.

Mumford is contracted to continue as a ruck coach at the Giants next season, but Niall believes the Giants are still interested in re-drafting the 32-year-old.

“The Giants learnt about this I believe on Sunday and went to Shane Mumford and obviously discussed what had happened with him,” Niall told SEN Breakfast.

“At some time, some weeks after that, he was down in Melbourne, his season had ended. The incident that we have seen that went sort of viral I suppose on the internet forced the club to go public but the club had been dealing with Shane Mumford, they were ready for this, they were dealing with him since Sunday.

“They were ready and the info I have is it’s more likely that they will go ahead with their plan to bring him back as a player.

“I think his track record and the situation the club is in and the amount of work they’ve done, it looks like they’ll go with what they’ve initially planned.”

The Giants have booked Mumford for drug education and rehabilitation, however they are satisfied he has no ongoing problem with substance abuse.
