The GWS Giants have bolstered the strength of their midfield stocks, signing youngster Harry Rowston to a two-year contract extension.
Rowston put pen to paper on the double-year deal on Friday, tying his future to the Giants until the end of the 2026 season.
The Academy product was already tied to the club for the 2024 season, however, has committed his future to the expansion side on a longer-term basis.
Speaking a fortnight after making his AFL debut against West Coast in Perth, the 18-year-old claimed it was a no-brainer to stay on under Adam Kingsley.
“For me it was a pretty easy decision,” Rowston told Giants Media.
“My debut game was a bit nerve-racking, I was a little starstruck when I was out there, but after my second game I'm starting to feel more comfortable at the level.”
Joining the club with the 16th pick of the 2022 AFL Draft, Rowston became the latest pathway product to make his name on the big stage, finding the football on seven occasions during the Giants' loss to the Eagles.
Rowston backed up his efforts during GWS' Round 3 fixture against Carlton, securing 14 touches and laying three tackles in the defeat.
GWS' GM of Football Jason McCartney claimed the club was excited about what they had seen from the youngster and were stoked to have him on their books long-term.
“We're really excited to have both a player and a person of Harry's calibre re-commit to our program,” McCartney said.
“As someone who has come through the GIANTS Academy and has been involved with our club for a long time, we were keen to secure his services longer-term and we're really pleased to have done that so early into his career.
“We've already seen a small glimpse of what Harry has to offer as a player and we look forward to seeing him continue to progress in our program.”
Rowston has been selected in Kingsley's 26-man squad to face Essendon on Easter Sunday.
