Fringe Gold Coast forward Chris Burgess is the latest Suns player linked to the exit in what is shaping to be a significant off-season for the Carrara club.

The Suns are believed to be looking to amend their salary cap situation for the future, with the off-season of 2022 likely to see a wave of names depart the club.

Gun forward Izak Rankine has already flagged his intentions to join Adelaide on a long-term deal, while midfielder Brayden Fiorini, defender Jack Bowes, flanker Jeremy Sharp and reserve spearhead Josh Corbett are also linked to rival clubs.

Now, according toΒ AFL.com.au,Β Corbett is the latest name to join the list of Suns players gaining external interest, with rivals circling the out-of-contract key forward.

A 63-goal season in the VFL saw Burgess take out the league's leading goalkicker award in 2022, with the Suns' reserves reaching a preliminary final in the second-tier competition.

The combination of Burgess and Corbett was a lethal pairing for the Suns, but despite their best form couldn't break into Stuart Dew's side often enough this season.

The acquisitions and surprising rise of duo Mabior Chol and Levi Casboult limited opportunities at senior level for Burgess, while Ben King's long-awaited return from injury will only see the Flinders Park forward pushed further back in the pecking order for 2023.

Burgess' position has seemingly sparked interest from clubs looking to add to their key-forward stocks, with the 'Frosty' Miller Medal winner now seen as a chance to find a second club.

The 26-year-old has played 35 games in four seasons with the Suns and only managed two appearances at AFL level this year.

Along with the aforementioned Casboult and Corbett, Charlie Constable (unrestricted free agent),Β Oskar Faulkead,Β Darcy MacPherson,Β Oleg Markov and Hewego Paul Oea join Burgess in being unsigned for next season.
