Gold Coast have confirmed former Cat Charlie Constable will be sidelined for the opening rounds of the 2022 AFL season.

The 22-year-old sustained an adductor injury during a pre-season practice match for the Suns' VFL side, with Constable now expected to miss the next month of action.

Constable joined the Suns after being delisted by Geelong following 12 games in three seasons at Kardinia Park, with Gold Coast swooping on the tall midfielder with Pick 63 in last November's National Draft.

The emerging onballer isn't the only injury worry for the Suns, with Jack Bowes (shoulder), Ben King (knee), Sam Day (wrist) and Bodhi Ulwand (back) all currently dealing with ailments of their own.

King has been ruled out for the entire 2022 season after suffering an ACL injury last month, while Bowes won't feature for the Suns until the middle rounds of the year.

After requiring an operation on his wrist, Day is nearing a return to full fitness, while Uwland has been ruled out for the foreseeable future as he nurses a pre-existing stress fracture in his back.

Gold Coast's head physio Lindsay Bull was able to provide an update on several hampered Suns ahead of their AAMI Community Series clash against Geelong on Monday.

"Jack is recovering very well from his shoulder surgery and will miss the start of the season but we expect if all goes well he should be available mid-season,โ€ Bull revealed.

"With it being his first year in the AFL system, we will take a conservative approach with a modified program for Bodhi to give him the best chance to recover fully.โ€

The Suns will open their home and away campaign against West Coast on Sunday, March 20 before clashes with the Demons, Giants and Blues in their first month of the 2022 season.
