Gold Coast is reportedly verging on offering Damien Hardwick a five-year contract to coach the Suns.
Gold Coast chief executive Mark Evans is understood to be in Europe, planning to rendezvous with Hardwick, who is currently holidaying in the continent.
According to a Wednesday evening report by The Age's Sam McClure, Gold Coast reached out to Hardwick via a phone call last week to enquire about continuing his AFL coaching journey with the fledgling expansion club.
Following that correspondence, the Suns organised for club representation to travel overseas to meet with the mastermind coach.
The Suns' top job is currently vacant after the club dismissed ex-coach Stuart Dew after five-and-a-half seasons without finals football.
Hardwick, meanwhile, who coached Richmond to three premierships over the course of his decorated Punt Road tenure, relinquished the Tigers' head-coaching reins post-Round 10, deciding it was time to step away from the club he led to three flag triumphs.
While presently unconfirmed, it appears increasingly likely the Suns have sourced their new senior coach.
MORE TO COME.
