Gold Coast has made the tough decision to sack AFLW coach Cameron Joyce despite having two years remaining on his contract.
Joyce entered his fourth season with a commitment from the club, having put pen to paper in June this year, extending his deal until the end of 2026.
However, following a one-win 2024 campaign, the call was made to part ways.
Gold Coast CEO Mark Evans said the club made the decision as it strives to build a strong and competitive AFLW football program.
"Following a disappointing 2024 season, we have reviewed all aspects of our AFLW football program to identify how we can continue to improve our performance and ultimately achieve our mission of winning AFLW Premierships," Evans said.
"In order to take those steps forward and compete against the best teams in the AFLW competition, we have decided the club would be best placed under the guidance of a new Head Coach.
"Cam has led and overseen the transition of our AFLW football program over the past four seasons and created a foundation from which our players can strive for success moving forward.
"We'd like to thank Cam, his wife Leana and sons Henry and Oscar for their significant contributions to our football club."
The Suns finished 17th in 2024 with a 1-9-1 record.
Joyce was appointed the head coach of the club in 2021 ahead of Season 6 of the Women's competition.
The club's best finish under Joyce's tenure was an elimination final exit in 2023 after a 6-3-1 season, which saw the team finish fifth on the ladder, bowing out to Sydney in the first week of the finals.
Gold Coast will begin its process of identifying a new AFLW Head Coach in the coming weeks.
