Gold Coast could be without co-captain Jarrod Witts for Sunday's bout with the Bombers due to soreness and fitness concerns.
Witts was recently rested for the Suns' Round 10 clash against Geelong and made a return to Damien Hardwick's side last week in the loss to Carlton.
The veteran ruckman looked to have gotten through the result unscathed, but Witts has been limited at training in the build-up to this weekend's meeting with Essendon.
According to AFL.com.au, Witts was on light duties at Friday's main session and is in some doubt to face the Bombers at Carrara on Sunday.
Witts was named in Hardwick's extended side on Thursday, with second-string ruckman Ned Moyle not listed in the 26-man squad.
The Suns will confirm their reduced lineup on Friday at 5:00 pm (AEST), where Witts could be pulled from the lineup. Gold Coast have until an hour out from Sunday's 4:00 pm bounce to finalise their side for the game.
Defender Sam Collins was also limited at training on Friday but is believed to be a better chance to face the Bombers.
Gold Coast have welcomed the return of midfielder-turned-defender Sam Flanders for the occasion after the in-form Sun was a late out against Carlton due to illness.
Flanders is one of four potential ins for the Suns, with Rory Atkins, Sam Day and Will Graham listed on the extended bench.
Ben Ainsworth, Nick Holman, Bodhi Uwland and Jed Walter are also on the interchange, which will be reduced ahead of the weekend.
The Suns host Essendon at People First Stadium on Sunday, with a win potentially seeing them end the week in the top eight.
