Gold Coast Suns duo George Horlin-Smith and Anthony Miles have today called time on their careers.
Horlin-Smith has played 58 AFL games after making his debut for Geelong in 2012, before crossing to the Suns at the end of 2018.
“I entered the competition as a 17-year-old and have had the opportunity over the past ten years to be part of two different but amazing football clubs,” Horlin-Smith told goldcoastfc.com.au.
“My time at Geelong afforded me a host of experiences, including my debut game however I want to also thank the Suns for the opportunity they gave me to continue my career.”
“I will forever be grateful for the people I have met throughout the AFL, but I want to also take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard working support staff that work tirelessly to help us, as a playing group, perform at our best every week.”
Miles, now at this third club, made his AFL debut for GWS in 2012 before moving to Richmond at the end of 2013 and finally landing at the Suns ahead of the 2019 season.
He calls time after 88 senior appearances over a nine-year career.
“I probably haven’t had your typical 10 year career, but I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that my journey has afforded me,” Miles said.
“The people I have met throughout the industry have helped to shape the person that I am today, and that’s something that won’t be lost on me as I take the next steps in my career.
“My time here at the Suns has helped prepare me for the next challenge in my life and I’m looking forward to seeing how the club continues to develop in the years to come.”
Suns General Manager Football Jon Haines added: “George and Anthony have had a massive impact on the culture of the club and playing group and their influence on where we are today won’t be forgotten by the club.
"Their selfless and humble nature coupled with elite preparation and competitive instincts were exactly what this club required at the end of 2018 and we are incredibly grateful for the legacy that George and Anthony will leave on the football club."
