The Gold Coast Suns have reportedly made an audacious bid for Fremantle star Nat Fyfe.
News Limited has reported that the Suns have offered Fremantle two first round draft picks plus another player in either this year's trade period or next year's, for the 2015 Brownlow Medalist.
As it stands, Gold Coast currently has two top-10 draft picks, which would be a very attractive offer for the Dockers, who are looking at a lengthy list rebuild.
Fyfe is set to become a restricted free agent next season when his current contract expired.
The 24-year-old said last week that he is open to exploring his free agency options.
“The idea of free agency is that players do have a say in their career and it would be remiss of me not to look at every possible option,” Fyfe told Channel 7.
“But if I see a strong future at Freo then that’s where I’ll be playing my footy.”
Triple M's Damien Barrett confirmed the reports on radio on Saturday afternoon.
"It is real," Barrett said. "The Gold Coast Suns are prepared to offer up two first-round picks."
"As far-fetched and bizarre as it sounds, that is the story in itself.
"What has been happening since free agency has come in, some of these free agents are having their careers sorted out 12 months in advance, because that way the club gets something for them as opposed to being given the AFL-adjudicated compensation."
