Delisted Lion Josh Green says he is ready to shine for a new club following his shock axing from the Brisbane Lions.
The small forward was delisted by Brisbane last month after 107 goals in 81 games. He also led the club's goal kicking in 2014 and 2015.
Green says while he disappointed at being axed, is looking forward to a new start and confident he will be selected by a new club.
“Obviously I need to work on my defensive side of things, that’s what that small forward role requires and I’ll work as hard as I can,” Green said on SEN radio.
“Being delisted really shocked me in a way and I think I’m at an age now where I know my best football is still ahead of me.
“Really looking forward to hopefully a fresh start somewhere.
“I’m busting for an opportunity at another club.”
Green, who praised former coach Justin Leppitsch's impact on his career, said he has received some interest from other clubs.
“Justin was great for me, he gave me every opportunity and this year I broke my foot in January and missed a whole lot of the pre-season, which didn’t help,” he said.
“Then I was just playing catch-up the whole year and did have some form issues and others injuries that hampered my season.
“There’s a little bit of interest, which is good," Green added.
“Quite a tough year for the club and for myself. I was just looking for a fresh start and I knew delisted free agency is another way to sort of find a new home."
