Brodie Grundy has made his return to footy after suffering a PCL injury in Round 6's ANZAC Day win over Essendon, playing in the Magpies' 38-point VFL win over Southport.
Much speculation has followed Grundy's return from injury, as Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox stepped up in the senior side throughout his absence. Finally given the all clear to make his comeback, Grundy was named in the VFL as the senior side readied to play across town at the MCG.
The 28-year-old spent three-and-a-half quarters on the ground in his return, ending the afternoon with 21 hitouts, 11 disposals and eight tackles in the win.
While Grundy pressed his case for senior selection in Round 21, Collingwood CEO Mark Anderson spoke on the future of the two-time All Australian on SEN's Sportsday.
"As you know he's got a contract," Anderson answered when asked about the trade speculation following Grundy.
"Clearly, anything that is changed would be his decision and we will have all of those conversations at the back end of the year in terms of what our list looks like and what our needs are.
"Now's not the time for doing that, we've got four weeks to go for the home and away season and hopefully finals so that's our focus at the moment.
"Brodie getting back and playing some good footy is our absolute focus.
Collingwood have had an exceptional run of form in the second half of the season, hoping to extend their winning streak to ten games with a victory over Port Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.
With the Pies readying themselves to cause some trouble in September, Anderson reiterated that Grundy was a valuable player within the side.
"We are a better team with Brodie in it, there's no doubt about that," Anderson said.
"We are looking forward to getting him back."
