Forgotten Magpie Tom Langdon's playing future is in doubt after his long term knee injury flared in a practice game against Brisbane last month.
Langdon hasn't played a senior game since round 9, 2019, after undergoing surgery to resolve chronic cartilage to his right knee.
Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley admitted the 26-year-old will need to make a decision on his future after the latest injury setback.
"His knee has been problematic and he hasn't done much for the last week and a half," Buckley said.
"It was too sore to continue in the practice match against Brisbane. He’s a very good footballer and an important person at our club."
"There are some decisions to be made by Tom to see what the next steps are."
Earlier in the year, Buckley spoke about the decision Langdon would have to make about his long-term future.
“It’s a very challenging position for a young professional to be in, especially a guy who’s shown that he’s more than capable at the level – some of his performances over the last couple of years have been exceptional, especially in big games," Buckley said earlier in the year.
“He’s a balanced kid, Langers. He doesn’t have all his eggs in one basket, so he’s been a sort of been able to manage himself through this process.
“So that is something that Tom has considered and that we are conscious of.
“So I think, given all of those discussions and possible repercussions and realities, you know, we’re still going down the path because we feel, on balance, that Langers can still get back and play the game he loves, in an environment that he loves."
Langdon was one of the Pies best in the 2018 campaign that saw them come within five points of winning the premiership.
