Brisbane is set to be without hybrid threat Zac Bailey for a month or more after the South Australian was ruled out of action with a high ankle sprain.

According to a Tuesday evening statement from the club, Bailey alerted medicos to soreness in his leg during the Lions' crucial win against Melbourne last Thursday at the MCG.

Following scans, it was determined that Bailey would spend the next four to six weeks on the sideline.

However, Brisbane has stated it will "seek further medical advice" on Bailey's leg.

Should the 24-year-old miss as many as six weeks, the Lions will be forced to do battle with the Cats, Giants, Suns, Crows, Tigers and Hawks in Bailey's absence.

Elsewhere at Springfield, the news was brighter for Conor McKenna, with the former Bomber set to return against Geelong this Saturday night at the Gabba.

Previously, the Irishman had been laid low with a hamstring strain, missing all but one of Brisbane's fixtures this season.

The Lions and Cats will do battle at the Gabba on Saturday evening.
