GWS have announced the extension of former No.1 pick Aaron Cadman to a two-year deal.

The teenager has re-signed with the Giants ahead of his contract year, with his services now tied to the club until the end of the 2026 season.

Cadman joined the Giants via last year's National Draft as the first overall selection, with the New South Wales club trading to the front of the queue to acquire the services of the tall forward.

The Victorian young gun has put any fears of a potential departure to rest with his new deal, with GWS football boss Jason McCartney expressing his delight via the club's announcement.

“Aaron is a player with huge potential, and we are delighted to secure his services for a further two years on top of next season, “McCartney said.

“We traded up in last year's draft to take him with the number one pick because we know what a special talent he is and his decision to stay a GIANT long term is fantastic for the club and we can't wait to see him thrive in orange and charcoal.

“It takes time for young key forwards to develop within the AFL system and for Aaron to play 12 games at AFL level in his first season was a great achievement and we are excited about what he's going to develop into for us.

“At just 19 years old he's got so much room to grow, and we see him as a huge piece of our future, and we can't wait to help him become the player we know he can be as we strive towards future success.”

Cadman played 12 games under coach Adam Kingsley this year, booting six goals and showing glimpses as a developing key forward.

The young spearhead would find some strong form at VFL level in his first year in the state league competition, kicking 16 goals in his final four games of the season - including an eight-goal haul against the Northern Bullants.

Cadman will be looking to break back into Kinglsey's side to start the 2024 season when the Giants host reigning premiers Collingwood at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday, March 9.
