GWS are pushing to take two draft picks from Adelaide in exchange for wantaway midfielder James Peatling.

Pick 46 of this year's draft and Adelaide's future second-round pick have been requested with no certainty of reaching an agreement until the final stages of the trade period.

Negotiations for Peatling narrowed to just one rival after Peatling requested a move to the Adelaide Crows, rejecting a four-year offer to stay with the Giants.

Adelaide may take a conservative approach with their limited draft hand. Pick 46 is the club's second overall pick of the upcoming draft, and their future second is set to play a key part in several trade discussions.

The Crows have already secured free agent Isaac Cumming and recruit Alex Neal-Bullen via trade, two of the biggest moves so far in the trade period.

The Giants hold an abundance of draft capital, featuring picks 15, 16, 21, 37, 53, 56 and 74 following the departures of Cumming and Harry Perryman, but are looking to bolster their hand further in exchange for Peatling, whose value shot up in the back half of 2024.
