Restricted GWS free agent Harry Himmelberg is set to test the waters with other rival clubs if he remains unsigned with the Giants by the end of the season.
The key forward said toย SEN Morningsย that he is happy with his place at the Giants but will not put all of his focus into securing another contract with the club.
"I think it's something I don't really want to be focusing on this early in the season,
"It's a big decision and I'm happy where I am at the moment. I'm more focused on learning a new system and performing in that system to my best ability and helping the team win, to be honest," he said.
"There's not too much to think about to be honest, we're pretty happy and what will be will be," he said.
Himmelberg, a high-marking presence in GWS' forward-line, made his Giants debut in Round 17, 2016. Throughout the 2022 AFL season, he earned a career-high 395 disposals and 132 marks while playing a backline role under former coach Leon Cameron.
Himmelberg noted that he doesn't want to put a timeline for the progression of securing a contract or an extension but is remaining optimistic.
"I don't really like to put timelines on things,โ he continued.
โIf it happens, it happens, but if we have to wait a bit longer, then we'll have to wait a little bit longer,".
Himmelberg will line up for the Giants this week as they face off against Hawthorn on Sunday, April 16 at 3:20 PM (AEDT) at Norwood Oval.
