GWS and Brisbane have decided to take the AFL Tribunal's decisions to uphold three-game suspensions to Toby Bedford and Charlie Cameron to the AFL Appeal Board.
Bedford's ban for rough conduct on Tim Taranto was challenged by GWS on Tuesday, with the Giants unsuccessful in their attempt to free their young speedster.
The Giants argued that the 24-year-old acted reasonably in his attempt to take Taranto, who suffered a concussion as a result of the incident.
GWS also pushed to have the impact grading reduced to 'medium', which would have resulted in a one-game suspension instead of three matches.
The Tribunal upheld the Match Review Officer's findings that Bedford's actions were careless, as well as the level of impact being severe and contact being high.
The Lions faced the same fate after contesting Cameron's tackle on Liam Duggan from Round 18, with the star forward's suspension also upheld.
Both verdicts have led the Giants and Lions to further challenge the system's outcome, with a pair of AFL Appeal Board hearings to take place later this week.
Bedford's suspension currently has him missing matches against Gold Coast, Melbourne and Hawthorn, with a return scheduled for Round 22 when the Giants meet Brisbane at the Gabba.
Cameron is in line to miss clashes with Sydney, Gold Coast and St Kilda, with a return also to come when the Lions host GWS in mid-August.
Times and dates for the twin Appeal Board hearings are yet to be confirmed.
