Stephen Coniglio has avoided major damage to his knee after leaving the field in GWS' Saturday afternoon clash with St Kilda.
The star midfielder was caught in a tackle by young Saint Mitch Owens and fell awkwardly in the contest before immediately reaching for his knee in pain.
Slow-motion replays showed what looked to be a devastating hyper-extension and Coniglio took no further part in the match, compounding the injury concerns on the day with superstar defender Sam Taylor going down with a brutal head-knock.
Scans this morning have revealed no serious damage to Coniglio's knee, instead suffering a minor MCL injury which will likely see him miss two weeks of footy.
The incident added to a shocking day on the injury front, St Kilda opponent Max King also exiting the match with a knee concern that has fortunately come back as a minor injury also.
Still, the Giants will be left without their vice-captain in Coniglio, and arguably the competition's best defender in Sam Taylor for next Saturday's clash with Carlton at Marvel Stadium, as well as their clash against Brisbane on the following Thursday night.
The Giants remain undefeated at 5-0 heading into this challenging two-week stretch.
