Brisbane captain Dayne Zorko has suffered a minor hamstring injury ahead of the Lions' first pre-season practice matches.

While Zorko isn't training with the main group, the injury isn't expected to keep him sidelined for long with the club confirming that the 34-year-old should be right to face Sydney in an unofficial practice match on February 24.

Speaking to AFL.com.au, Brisbane's football manager Danny Daly said that Zorko has been in great shape so far this pre-season, despite his recent injury obstacle.

"He's done everything over the pre-season and is in great shape," Daly said.

"It's a small one (injury), but he'll be fine."

Zorko played 22 matches for the Lions in 2022, his 11th year at the club, averaging 19.9 disposals throughout the season.

Despite a disappointing ending to the 2022 season with a preliminary final defeat, the Lions are expected to feature deep in September again this season, with the exciting season inclusions of Josh Dunkley and Will Ashcroft bolstering expectations.

Brisbane's current injury list isn't of much concern heading into their season opener against Port Adelaide on March 18. Alongside Zorko, Jarrod Berry, Darcy Gardiner and Noah Answerth are yet to return to full contact training after respective off-season shoulder surgeries. All three are expected to be available for selection come Round 1.
