New Gold Coast recruit Pearce Hanley says he is loving the change of environment since moving from cross-town rivals, Brisbane Lions.

Hanley played 129 from 2008 to 2016 with the Lions, but managed just a miserly 38 wins in that time.

He then joined the Suns in October via a three-way trade with Port Adelaide, which involved the Lions receiving pick 22 from Gold Coast and also Port Adelaide’s future first round pick in 2017. The Power secured the Lions’ first round priority selection (19) and pick 30 from the Suns.

The 28-year-old said just six weeks into life at his new club, he is already feeling at home.

"I wasn't happy last year, I think everyone could see that," Hanley told AFL.com.au.

"The change-up has definitely rejuvenated me.

"I played every game last year, but it's probably the worst my body's felt."

Hanley also said he is confident he will return to his best form under Rodney Eade in 2017.

"I think they're going to get the best out of me, whereas I didn't see that happening in Brissie," he said.

"I was plugging a few holes last year, and this year they see me as a vital part of their team and I look forward to them having faith in me and me repaying them.

"No doubt about it. I'm looking to get back to my 2014 form before my hip surgery."
