Gather Round. Sunday night. Port Adelaide and Hawthorn.

The AFL's clever fixturing has last year's semi-final match-up as the concluding game of the third edition of the South Australian-based weekend.

And Ken Hinkley knows what's coming.

In 2024, the two clubs played off in "tight and pretty intense" contests, with the Power holding sway by one and three points.

But the most recent clash had the AFL world tipped on its head, with social media posts and words exchanged post-game resulting in "please explains" from the league and a $20,000 fine to Hinkley.

Port Adelaide - who have started 2025 poorly - has dismissed the build-up to what will arguably be the match of the weekend, saying, "Hawthorn just happens to be the opposition".

"I will do everything we can to try and beat Hawthorn and bring our best game of football, that's all I care about," Hinkley said after the loss to St Kilda on Sunday.

"I don't care about any of the stuff that goes on outside that.

"Rivalries in this game are OK. I'm OK that there is a bit of a rivalry.

"We (Port and Hawthorn) had a couple of games last year that were pretty tight and pretty intense. Emotions spill over. I have spoken about that enough.

"I am just looking forward to the opportunity for us to turn up next Sunday night and play our way of football.

"And Hawthorn just happens to be the opposition. We're OK with that."

The Power have plenty of work to do to get themselves out of their current form slump, especially coming up against ladder-leaders Hawthorn.

Only one victory from the opening month of football has football pundits questioning where the improvement can come from within Alberton, while the much-quizzed decision of the coaching handover continues to linger in the background.
