We have just two rounds remaining in the home and away season, with our Rookie Rankings containing to see changes among the top eight.

A Hawks defender and a Crows backman have each gone up one spot in our rankings following Round 22, with a sidelined Eagle and Suns ace both falling back a spot each as a result.

Our leader has only strengthened his place at the top, while a teammate was among four players to earn an honourable mention for their efforts over the weekend.

Criteria:ย For ourย Rookie Rankings, we are selecting players who have made their debut this season. Other players who may still be eligible for a Rising Star nomination but have already made their debut prior to the 2023 season will not be considered.

I.e. Rising Star eligible players such asย Sam Darcy,ย Finn Callaghanย andย Jye Amissย are ineligible, having already played anย AFLย match prior to Round 1, 2023.ย

Round 22 Honourable Mentions
George Wardlaw (North Melbourne)
Elijah Tsatas (Essendon)
Matthew Johnson (Fremantle)
Mattaes Phillipou (St Kilda)

5. Judd McVee (-)

Was again a dependable asset across half-back for the Demons, who suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Blues on Saturday night.

McVee came away from the four-point defeat with 13 touches for a return of 280 metres gained, even stepping up as a key link in the chain as Melbourne managed to claw themselves back into the contest late.

McVee and the Demons will have Hawthorn and Josh Weddle to deal with in Round 23, with Melbourne still in the hunt to secure a top-two finish.
