Our rankings have undergone a few changes as we enter the final fortnight of the season.

Our Rookie Rankings have seen another fresh face added to the top eight for the second week in a row, while the podium has also undergone a shake-up.

A Hawks young gun has edged out several contenders for eighth spot, taking over a GWS small forward, while a Roos speedster has slotted into second spot ahead of the final fortnight of the season.

A pair of Bombers rookies and a Suns midfielder were among the six players to earn an honourable mention from Round 22.

Selection Criteria: For our Rookie Rankings, we are ONLY selecting players who have made their debut this season.

Other players who may still be eligible for a Rising Star nomination but have already made their debut before the 2024 season will not be considered. I.e. Rising Star eligible players such as George Wardlaw, Angus Sheldrick and Sam Darcy are ineligible, having already played an AFL match before Round 1, 2024.

Round 22 Honourable Mentions:
Archie Roberts (Essendon)
Nate Caddy (Essendon)
Darcy Jones (GWS)
Calsher Dear (Hawthorn)
Daniel Curtin (Adelaide)
Will Graham (Gold Coast)

Nick Watson (NEW)

The Hawks livewire comes into our Rookie Rankings for the first time this year after a slow burn of form that has since exploded, with Watson taking the spot of GWS small forward Harvey Thomas ahead of a congested chasing pack.

Watson pips the likes of Hawthorn teammate Calsher Dear, Suns midfielder Will Graham, Fremantle defender Josh Draper, GWS speedster Darcy Jones and Thomas for eighth spot.

While he went without a goal in the comfortable win over Carlton on Sunday, Watson amassed 10 score involvements and four goal assists from his 17 disposals, seven contested possessions, six inside 50s and over 400 metres gained in what was his best performance of the year.

The outing adds to a strong back end of the season for Watson as he plays a part in the Hawks' push for a finals spot, with matches against Richmond and North Melbourne to come.

Shaun Mannagh (+1)

After coming back into our Rookie Rankings last week, Mannagh moves into seventh off the back of another formidable performance against Fremantle.

For the third week in a row, Mannagh had two goals and 12 disposals, with the mature-aged recruit's booting the match-sealing major on Saturday in Perth.

The crafty half-forward has proven to be a reliable role player for Chris Scott as the Cats mate another charge for the flag.

Geelong heads to Marvel Stadium this week to face St Kilda as they look to secure a top-four spot in 2024.

Sam Clohesy (-)

Round 22 saw a return to Clohesy's best form, with the Suns recruit off to a strong start against the Bombers on Saturday night to have 10 disposals and three makes in the opening term.

Add in a nice specky on the wing and plenty of run and clean ball work in midfield and it was Clohesy's best outing since his stellar start to the season.

The Gold Coast flanker had 23 disposals and close to 500 metres gained by the end of the thrilling win over the Bombers, with Clohesy among his side's best.

Despite their season being over, the Suns will look to finish strong in their upcoming games against Melbourne and Richmond.

Logan Morris (-)

A difficult afternoon in the end for the Lions, who had their attack quelled in the final term to see their lead fade.

Morris was unable to have a resounding impact after his first-quarter goal, but would take a team-high two contested marks to end the day with seven disposals (five contested) and four marks for a return of 1.1.

The Brisbane forward and his teammates will be keen to right any wrongs from Round 22 when they return to the MCG this week to face fellow 2023 grand finalists Collingwood as they look to move back into the top four.

Darcy Wilson (-)

A quiet performance for the Saints rookie, who came away from Sunday's win over Richmond with 10 disposals and a goal.

Wilson was able to move the ball cleanly however, going at an efficient rate of 90 per cent as he roamed the flanks at Marvel Stadium.

With two rounds to go, where the Saints could upset Geelong and Carlton before their season comes to an end, Wilson is likely to remain in fourth spot in our rankings after an up-and-down first year.

Caleb Windsor (-1)

Melbourne's loss to Port Adelaide on Saturday ended the Demons' chances of a top-eight finish and looks to have put a line through Windsor's hopes of a return to the field.

It was likely a September showing would be needed for Windsor to play again this year as he returns to the field.

The Melbourne speedster looks set to remain in third place after falling from second this week due to the form of a fellow top 10 draft pick.

Colby McKercher (+1)

For the sixth time in his last eight games, McKercher amassed at least 30 disposals to offer the Roos some speed off their last line of defence.

McKercher levelled his career-best haul of 37 disposals while going at 89% efficiency to record almost 700 metres gained in the narrow loss to West Coast.

The game saw McKercher and Pick 1 selection Harley Reid face off for the first time this year, with the Eagles sensation the only player now ahead of the Tasmanian speedster in our Rookie Rankings.

The Roos have the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn to end their 2024 season, meaning they could cause some frustrations for two finals hopefuls.

Harley Reid (-)

Reid's gap over McKercher has certainly reduced but it'll be hard to see the West Coast young gun usurped in the final two weeks of the season.

A lower performance for Reid despite the win over the Kangaroos, with a clear highlight coming via a specky over North Melbourne defender Aidan Corr.

Reid ended the afternoon with 12 disposals, four marks and three clearances as he nears the end of a promising first year at AFL level.

The Eagles face Carlton and Geelong over the final two rounds as interim coach Jarad Schofield looks to strengthen his bid for the senior role.
