Hawthorn's Finn Maginness has put pen to paper on a new two-year extension that will keep him in the brown and gold until the end of the 2027 season.
Maginness, who was already contracted for next year, now has his services locked in at Bunjil Bagora through to his eighth year as a Hawk.
The son of two-time Hawthorn premiership player Scott, Maginness joined the club via the 2019 AFL Draft as a father-son selection and would make his debut the following year against the Western Bulldogs.
The 23-year-old played a total of 13 games in 2024 to bring his career tally to 45 matches for the Hawks - 42 of which have come in the past three seasons.
“This new contract is great reward for Finn, he's the sort of player who has great work ethic and is willing to play any role for the betterment of the team,” Hawks list manager Markl McKenzie said.
“Finn has obviously demonstrated his elite endurance and discipline as a run-with player, and we're confident he can continue to evolve his game in coming years to play an important role in our senior side.
“We know Finn is excited about the direction we're heading in as a club and we see him forming a valuable piece of our future.”
Maginness' re-signing comes after interest from Essendon ahead of the trade period. The Bombers expressed a desire to potentially add the midfielder to their ranks despite his contract status.
The Hawks made it known on the opening day of the exchange period that the defensive-minded onballer would not be departing the club.
It has only taken two months for Maginness to confirm his allegiance to the Hawks by extending his contract with the club for two more seasons.
The re-signing of Maginness leaves the likes of Calsher Dear, Sam Frost, Cameron Mackenzie, Josh Ward, Jai Serong and James Worpel among those off-contract in 2025 at Hawthorn.
