Attacking Hawthorn pair Mitch Lewis and Nick Watson have both been sidelined through injury, with the latter facing more than a month out of action.

Watson hurt his ankle late into Monday's clash with Geelong, with the club since revealing the Pick 5 selection has suffered a syndesmosis injury that fortunately won't require surgery.

The recovery timelines can take up to six weeks, meaning Watson won't be available until loser to Round 8 at the very least.

"Fortunately in Nick's case, he won't require surgery on his ankle," Hawks doctor Liam West said in a club update.

“He'll spend the next period in a moonboot to allow his ligaments to heal before we begin loading him up again.

"At this stage we think he'll be out 4 to 6 weeks, but will continually reassess this during his rehab period."

Lewis will miss at least this week's clash with Collingwood after suffering a low-grade hamstring injury in his side's defeat to the Cats.

Lewis was unable to see out the Round 4 encounter, with scans since confirming a minor strain for the Hawks spearhead.

"Mitch won't be available this week given the six-day turnaround, but we will monitor his response to loading to determine his Round 5 availability," West revealed.

"Being a lower grade injury we don't expect Mitch to miss a considerable amount of game play."

The Hawks are already without Will Day (foot), Changkuoth Jiath (hamstring) and Chad Wingard (Achilles), among others, for the coming weeks, with a club-wide injury update to be provided later this week.

Hawthorn face the Magpies at Adelaide Oval on Sunday to conclude Gather Round.
