Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell says the club is embracing an influx of night matches but admits it is still a work in progress for the players.
Following the Hawks' stoic rise to premiership favouritism, as a result, Mitchell's men have had an uptick of primetime clashes.
And on Saturday evening, they'll host GWS at UTAS Stadium in a rare occasion in Launceston.
The Hawks will get the opportunity to play twice at night at the club's Tasmanian "fortress", which has been a happy hunting ground for the brown and gold over the years.
"It's definitely been a competitive advantage," Mitchell said on Thursday.
"We've been going to Tasmania for such a long time, and I think it's been important for the club off-field, but I think from an on-field perspective, I think, on average, we win one extra game per season, because of the advantage there.
"And I hope they (Tasmanians) continue to embrace us as I know there's some competition coming."
The Giants fixture in Round 3 and the Adelaide contest set for Round 14 in June will be played under lights, which is a unique opportunity.
"It'll be interesting, and I couldn't recall if there has ever been one," Mitchell said of a night fixture in Tasmania.
"I think we're getting used to playing at night. It's a different feeling. What the players do during the day is a work in progress for us."
Mitchell will be forced into at least one change, with forward Connor MacDonald out injured with a syndesmosis issue, and will miss the next two weeks.
Pressure forward Finn Maginness was also limited at training and will be a watch when the final teams are announced at 6.20 pm (AEDT).
Veterans Jack Gunston and Luke Breust immediately come into consideration, with the former starting as the substitute last week, replacing MacDonald and kicking two goals.
Breust was impressive in the VFL, slotting three majors from 15 possessions, while young midfielder Henry Hustwaite (30 possessions, 11 clearances and four marks) was among the best afield.
Mitchell said he was in awe of his former teammate's attitude despite playing in the reserves some weeks, saying he, along with fellow veterans Sam Frost and Gunston, "add value to the club".
"They're all in similar positions where they know their best is in the team," Mitchell said.
"They're great teammates. They're great people to have around the club. I think when you're well led by those guys, like Luke Breust, who is doing it with such a good attitude, out here coaching and making everyone better, it goes a long way.
"It takes a whole squad to go where you want to go."
