The 25-year-old Ryan was Hawthorn's No. 12 selection at May's Mid-Season Draft, having played a pair of AFL games in brown and gold since his midyear drafting.
The youngster's six-month contract runs through until the end of the season, currently unsigned beyond the end of 2023.
The Hawks are looking to put a dent in the Dogs' finals chances, as Luke Beveridge's men currently sit in seventh position on 44 points, with matchups against the Hawks, Eagles, and Cats remaining on their 2023 home and away schedule.
For a club firmly in a rebuilding phase, Hawthorn's season has been promising, having claimed scalps against the likes of premiership aspirants Brisbane and Collingwood throughout the course of this season.
The Hawks and Bulldogs meet at Hobart's UTAS Stadium on Sunday, August 13 at 1:45 PM (AEST).
