In another significant media shake-up, four-time AFL premiership winner Shaun Burgoyne has signed on with Fox Footy for the 2025 AFL season.
Widely respected in both his playing and commentary stints, Burgoyne will leave Channel 7 to join the Fox Footy team as part of their bolstered broadcast strategy for the upcoming season.
Fox Sports Managing Director Steve Crawley praised the move, highlighting Burgoyne's unparalleled status and influence in the AFL.
"Shaun is a straight shooter with a trusted opinion and has earned the respect of all football fans," Crawley remarked.
"He is football royalty, and he wants to work at Fox Footy."
Burgoyne's addition comes as Fox Footy aims to enhance its coverage for 2025 with "Super Saturday Live," during which it will be the exclusive provider of live AFL games on Saturdays through Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
Burgoyne joins a lineup of well-known analysts and fellow former legends, including Garry Lyon, Jason Dunstall, and Nathan Buckley, promising fans even more insights and in-depth commentary.
Burgoyne's transition from player to respected commentator was swift following his retirement in 2021.
Known affectionately as "Silk" for his skill and composure, Burgoyne's playing career spanned two decades and 407 games with Port Adelaide and Hawthorn.
He holds the distinction of being the first Indigenous Australian to play 400 AFL games, in addition to his four premiership medallions.
For the upcoming season, Fox Footy has announced that all games will be broadcast without ad breaks during play and will be available in 4K resolution on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, elevating the viewing experience.
