Hawthorn midfield pair Conor Nash and Will Day will both need to prove their fitness at training over the next week ahead of the Hawks' return to finals.
Nash suffered a minor cork to the quad in Saturday's win over North Melbourne and was subbed out of the contest due to the ailment.
The club has confirmed Nash has been listed as a 'test' for their elimination final against the Western Bulldogs next week but is expected to play in the September showing.
"He got a corky in the game which inhibited his movement but it's not a significant corky and we'd expect him to be back fully training by the end of this week," Hawks high-performance boss Peter Burge said in a club update.
Day is "feeling better" since hurting his shoulder in Round 23 against Richmond but still faces a number of steps before being cleared to return to play.
Day is yet to commence non-contact training but has begun running in his recovery.
"Will has started running and conditioning outside and he's feeling better," Burge said.
"We'll be progressing his conditioning loads over the week and then reassess when we can start non-contact training, hopefully around the weekend.
"Beyond that, there's still a few things for us to assess and look at before we progress to full contact training."
Meanwhile, defender Changkuoth Jiath will aim to play for Box Hill in the VFL this weekend as the Hawks' reserves prepare for an elimination final against Williamstown on Saturday.
Jiath has been nursing a calf issue and will look to take the next step in his recovery in a bid to face the Western Bulldogs next Friday.
"He's back to full training and fully trained this week and we're planning for him to play in the VFL this weekend," Burge said.
Ruckman Ned Reeves (back) is also pressing his case for a spot in Box Hill's side and be available through September, while a minor setback for veteran forward Chad Wingard has placed him in some doubt for the coming week.
Both players will train with Box Hill this week, with Wingard requiring further assessment as he deals with an ankle injury.
"He had an incident last Saturday at training, just with his ankle," Burge said of Wingard.
"He's going to Box Hill training tonight and we'll reassess tonight at training and see how that looks for Thursday night. He's a test for the weekend but he would need to complete some training tonight and then again on Thursday.
"[Reeves] willย train this week at Box Hill and we're planning for him to play this weekend in the VFL."
Hawthorn take on the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Friday, September 6 in an elimination final, with the winner to face the loser of the qualifying final between Port Adelaide and Geelong.
