Jack Martin has led four other Carlton players at the door as the club swings its axe after a disappointing end to the season.

The Blues have confirmed the delistings of David Cuningham, Caleb Marchbank, Alex Mirkov, Dom Akuei and Martin, with the latter linked with a move to Fremantle.

The former Sun came across to IKON Park as a highly talented and skilful footballer but, unfortunately, has been met with persistent injuries that have curbed his AFL career.

Martin added 54 games to his CV, following from the 97 he played at Gold Coast.

Cuningham departs the club having played 58 games in the navy blue after being taken with Pick 23 in the 2015 National Draft.

The Oakleigh Chargers product, like Martin, failed to get his body right consistently, resulting in a maximum of 12 starts in any given season.

Cuningham featured in five games in 2024.

Marchbank left the Giants after two years as a top-10 pick in the 2014 National Draft with untapped potential.

The key defender found himself low on the pecking order at GWS, and the lure of opportunities at IKON Park presented itself, making a move ahead of the 2017 season.

Playing 16 games in his first year at Carlton, things were looking up for the now-27-year-old.

But as is the theme of his teammates Martin and Cuningham, Marchbank was unable to string consistent games together, crippled by injuries that limited him to 56 games in eight seasons at Carlton.

As for the untried Mirkov and Akuei, the pair spent the bulk of their careers in the VFL side, plying their tried in the ruck and defence.

Mirkov was taken in the 2021 Mid-Season draft, while Akuei was a Category B Rookie selected three years ago.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin acknowledged the efforts of all five players.

โ€œDavid and Caleb have persevered through adversity throughout their extended careers at Carlton. Their resolve to continue to front up and give themselves every chance to overcome each challenge is a testament to them and will hold them in good stead with whatever the step is that they choose to take,โ€ Austin said.

โ€œJack also showed a resilient mindset through his five seasons and has made some lasting friendships at the football club, while Alex and Dom brought great energy around the Club over their time with us, each earning their opportunity to be part of an AFL program via unique pathways.

โ€œWe thank all five players for their commitment during their time in Navy Blue.โ€

As for Carlton players left without deals for 2025 and beyond, small forward Matthew Owies leads the charge as he is weighing up his future.

Starved midfielder Jack Carroll is also suspected of receiving interest from Western Australia, while Matt Carroll and Sam Durdin are also contract-less.
