Young Pie Jack Ginnivan has drawn further criticism from Kane Cornes in just AFL game number eight after a fiery 13-point loss against Geelong.

Ginnivan was at the bottom of a pack during a heated incident in the third quarter on Saturday night, seemingly getting under the skin of Geelong's Joel Selwood after a chase-down tackle on the Cats skipper resulted in a Collingwood goal.

Cornes previously criticised the 19-year-old after Collingwood's Round 1 win over St Kilda for the second-year player's post-game GoPro celebrations, but Pies coach Craig McRae remained unbothered by the media focus on the young forward.

“To be honest I don’t care if he’s got pink hair as long he keeps playing his role, putting pressure on, getting under the opposition’s skin. There’s a role for that within the rules,” McRae said to media.

“He’s only played six or seven games now so he’s finding out now what best suits him to play at this level.

“I like what he‘s bringing to the table right now.”

But former Port star Kornes doubled down on his criticism following Saturday night's match, first posting on social media before speaking on AFL Media’s The Round So Far.

“It’s a lot to ask of a youngster, because you’ve got so much going on — you want to establish yourself at (AFL) level,” Kornes said.

“To go after a player as well respected as Joel Selwood and to lose in your eighth game. He only had six touches tonight, so clearly he didn’t impact the game.

“I’d rather see him establish himself first, then bring that extra element into your game.”

Ginnivan was held to six touches and kicked a goal in his third match of the season, while Joel Selwood led his Cats to an impressive comeback win under the lights at the MCG.
