Will Marcus Bontempelli finally claim that elusive title? Is it Nick Daicos' time to shine? Surely Lachie Neale hasn't secured a third... right?
We can only craft up our greatest predictions and punts before the big night, but in the meantime, we might as well declare a fantasy winner.
Most footy fans will be familiar with theย Heraldย Sun's fantasy AFL game 'SuperCoach'.
This game ranks players according to a unique database of statistical production, rewarding players for their prolific ability in the most impactful categories: goals, contested marks, intercepts, and assists.
While not perfect, the highest SuperCoach scorers in games are often the most impactful players on the ground. It's not perfect, sometimes inflating the impact of safe-kicking rebound defenders or high-volume tap ruckman, but it holds up well nonetheless.
So, we've gone through the top SuperCoach scorers from each home & away match in 2024, ranking the three best and tallying up the final votes to decide the winner.
For tied scores, we give the nod to the player with the higher AFL Fantasy score.
The method has it's flaws - one game sees St Kilda have all three vote-getters in an 85-point trouncing at the hands of Brisbane.
But the final results produce a plausible list of contenders, with a riveting battle up the top.
