Fremantle assistant and former West Coast player Jaymie Graham has confirmed he is "open" to receiving a call from the Eagles should they seek out his interest in their senior coaching vacancy.

Graham worked under departed West Coast coach Adam Simpson before departing the club for cross-town rivals Fremantle ahead of the 2022 season.

The 41-year-old was a key facilitator in the Eagles' 2018 premiership run and even stepped up to the senior coaching role earlier that year when Simpson was absent for personal reasons.

Graham added to his caretaker coaching CV four years later during his first term with the Dockers, having to replace Justin Longmuir on two occasions due to the league's COVID protocols at the time.

Graham has previously flagged his desire to eventually step into a senior coaching position in the AFL, and has previously been involved as a candidate for vacancies at both Collingwood and North Melbourne in the past several years.

With a role now up for grabs at West Coast - the club Graham played 37 games for in the mid-2000s - the Dockers' forwards coach hasn't shied away from noting his interest in potentially pursuing the Eagles job.

Speaking toย ABC Perth,ย Graham said he would "definitely take the call" if the Eagles were to reach out.

"I'll definitely take the call," Graham said. "I've made it known I have got ambitions.

"I'm really focused on my role and really enjoying it, working with our young forward line and helping them become their best selves.

"But I'll be open to the call."

West Coast won't have access to club great and Sydney assistant Dean Cox, who has turned his back on a potential return to the Eagles, while Port Adelaide assistant Josh Carr has also closed any chance of pursuing the job.

Graham's former teammate Ash Hansen was questioned on his interest in the role this week but played a straight bat in his response.

GWS assistant Brett Montgomery, caretaker coach Jarrad Schofield and Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa are among the names potentially in contention to succeed Simpson as well.
