Gold Coast Suns midfielder Alex Davies has signed a two-year contract extension, which will see him remain in the sunny state till at least the end of 2026.

The 22-year-old is in his fourth year at the Suns and has played 34 AFL games, including seven games this year under coach Damien Hardwick.

The youngster arrived at the Suns in 2020 as a pre-listed rookie and a Suns Academy graduate from Cairns. Davies is known for his elite tackle pressure around stoppages.

The Suns Academy graduate averaged 15 disposals, an elite high of seven tackles and 3.4 clearances per game this year, well above his career averages.
Davies, who garnered reported interest from Geelong and Collingwood, has been wearing the red and gold guernsey since he was 12 years old and said he is excited to remain a Sun and for what the future holds.
โ€œI have been with the SUNS for over ten years now through my time in the Academy and couldn't picture myself anywhere else,โ€ Davies said.
โ€œI love the city and love my teammates, so I'm looking forward to continuing my career with the SUNS.โ€
Gold Coast Suns General Manager of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron said the club was pleased to keep Davies.
โ€œAlex has become a reliable midfielder and we are pleased he has decided to re-sign with the club. We are excited to watch him continue to develop in the years to come,โ€ Cameron said.
Davies is one of 14 Suns Academy graduates currently on Gold Coast's list.
