Hawthorn have announced defender Jack Scrimshaw has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The re-singing sees the in-form Hawk now tied to the club until the end of the 2027 season, with Hawthorn acting on the unsigned backman's strong start to the year.

Scrimshaw is averaging 18.44 disposals, 6.33 marks, 8.2 intercept possessions and uses the ball at 84.4% disposal efficiency so far this year from his nine appearances.

After moving from the Gold Coast Suns at the end of the 2018 season, the former Pick 7 selection is enjoying his best year in the brown and gold.

“Having been a former top-10 draft pick, Scrim's talent has been obvious since walking through the doors of our club, but his continued growth and development has been fantastic to witness especially most recently.” Hawks list manager Mark McKenzie said of Scrimshaw's re-signing.

“Off the back of a career-best pre-season, we've seen Scrim build towards some really strong form in the early stages of 2024, which we're confident he can continue.

“No doubt Scrim is an important piece of what we are building here at Hawthorn, and I'm sure the brown and gold faithful will be delighted to see his talents locked away for three more years.”

Scrimshaw has played 88 games for Hawthorn, having become a staple in the club's backline over the past four years.

He won't play in this week's clash against Port Adelaide on Sunday due to a one-game suspension for rough conduct.

The Hawks remain to have the likes of Luke BreustSam FrostDenver Grainger-BarrasJack GunstonBlake HardwickChangkuoth Jiath, Conor Nash and Chad Wingard, among others, still off-contract in 2024.

The club has managed to re-sign James Blanck (2026), Henry Hustwaite (2026), Bailey MacDonald (2026), Connor MacDonald (2026), Jai Serong (2025) and Josh Weddle (2026) this year.
