The start to Brisbane's flag defence has come with multiple injury concerns for Chris Fagans' forward third, with Kai Lohmann subbed out of the Lions' season opener against Sydney with an ankle injury.
The energetic small forward was left grimacing on the SCG turf in the opening half of the first term in the Round 1 encounter with the Swans, with Lohmann making his way from the field in some pain.
The injury came as Lohmann was tackled by Sydney defender Matt Roberts, with the Brisbane ace twisting in the process.
Lions medical staff looked to treat the youngster before deciding to take him down to the club's rooms midway through the opening quarter.
Brisbane soon revealed Lohmann had suffered an ankle injury and would be replaced in the game by tactical sub Conor McKenna.
Young tall Logan Morris had his own injury concerns in the first term after a friendly fire collision with Zac Bailey after contesting for a loose ball.
Morris was lying on the ground for some time before receiving help from medical staff, with the premiership forward eventually required to come from the field under the blood rule.
He would eventually return to the field after a stint on the sidelines.
Brisbane lost small forward Charlie Cameron to calf tightness in the lead-up to the match, with McKenna named in his place as a late change to Fagan's side.
