Adelaide's key defender, Nick Murray will be sidelined for up to three weeks after injuring his knee at training on Thursday.

Heading into Round 3, the Crows entered full training in preparation for Sunday's clash against North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.

During a drill, Murray landed awkwardly, jarring his knee and was sent for scans.

The results showed no structural damage, but the 24-year-old did report soreness in his left knee and will be treated cautiously.

Murray has injured the same knee he tore his ACL in 2023, with fears allayed following the scans.

He will miss the Kangaroos clash, as well as Gold Coast (Round 4) and potentially Geelong (Round 5).

"Nick will be off legs for the next week, then resume running before reintegrating into main training after that," High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

"It's unfortunate that he will miss some football, but at the same time, we are relieved that he has avoided a more serious injury.

"The next week will allow him time to recover before resuming running and preparing to return to play."

Coach Matthew Nicks announced the club's extended squad for Sunday's game, including Billy Dowling, Luke Nankervis and James Borlase into the mix.

The club confirmed that Borlase would be replacing Murray in the senior side.
